About Jill McRae-Spencer
Jill studied law in London during the 1960s and after returning to her home in south Devon became a lecturer in law at what later became the University of Plymouth. She engaged in research and in developing students’ inter-personal skills so that they were able to advise and represent members of the public as part of their Law degree.
After retirement Jill decided to develop the skills needed to use language in a different way. Returning to Plymouth University as a student she obtained an M.A. in Creative Writing and enjoyed writing fiction and memoir in particular. In 2013 she won the prize for memoir at the Winchester Writers Festival for ‘Shadow of the Moon’, and in 2024 she published her novel ‘What Kathleen Did’.
