About David Sharp
Originally born in West Dorset, David Sharp tried many trades before finally discovering horticulture and becoming a gardener, a profession he remained employed in for over 40 years. Starting out with the National Trust, he worked in various parts of the country before moving to West Devon to take up the position of Head Gardener for a private estate near Ivybridge, Devon a position he held for over 18 years. In the early 1990s, whilst still a Head Gardener, David had a two-year stint as a TV gardener on TSW’s Gardens for All, promoting organic gardening.
During the mid-90s, having suffered from an ‘out of the blue’ bout of depression, he was diagnosed with Dyspraxia, which helped to explain the many ‘issues’ he’d had whilst growing up. Channelling his own personal growth, he then moved into the charitable sector, running community gardening projects and working with individuals diagnosed with Autism, PTSD, Depression and so on.
He discovered his love for stories from an early age, where his vivid imagination was evoked while being read The Lord of the Rings, at his primary school in Dorset, leading him to read more books and write his own stories. His love for detective stories, ‘Vera’, ‘Shetland’ and on TV, ‘Morse’ and ‘Endeavour’, inspired him to begin writing For All Your Endeavours, and when he retired, he finally had the time to polish off the story.
