About Sally Arnold

Sally Arnold lives in Totnes, Devon. After her career in the music industry she is now helping Jamming Station, a local Community Interest Company, that brings young people together to perform, produce and record music. Sally is also a cancer survivor. After having a mastectomy, she opted against reconstructive surgery, choosing instead to have her post-op scar tattooed in 2002. She was the first woman to do so. Despite working for so long in rock'n'roll, Sally's main passion is — and always has been — classical music.

From Norland Nanny for the Jaggers to becoming the first female rock band Tour Manager. Engaged to Lynyrd Skynyrd's Stage Manager just days before the band's plane crashed in 1977 — 45th anniversary of the tragedy in October 2022. Touring the world as Tour Manager for Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who, Peter Gabriel and Mike Oldfield, and Assistant Tour Manager for the Rolling Stones. Worked on events with the likes of Princess Diana, Sir Elton John & Mikhail Gorbachev. The first woman to get a tattoo over her mastectomy scar — Breast Cancer Awareness Month October 2022.

While Sally Arnold's story reads like a Hollywood biopic, things began rather quietly: she was raised on a farm in Wiltshire and trained as a Norland Nurse. However, when she landed a job as nanny to Mick and Bianca Jagger's daughter, Sally's life changed forever. From living with the Jaggers, she would go on to work for the Rolling Stones, The Who, Peter Gabriel, Mike Oldfield and Lynyrd Skynyrd, becoming the first female Tour Manager in the rock business. It was a heady, glamorous time, but one also tainted by misfortune. Sally was engaged to Lynyrd Skynyrd's Stage Manager when the band's plane crashed in 1977, tragically killing her fiance and several of her friends.

Sally's fascinating memoir lifts the lid on these intoxicating and often turbulent times. Her deeply personal story reveals the truth of an era filled with icons, music, drugs and sex. As a trailblazer for women in the music industry, not only has she known many of rock'n'roll's biggest names personally, socialised with royalty and rubbed shoulders with members of state, but she has also lived and influenced a cultural zenith. 'Rock N Roll Nanny' contains exclusive photographs and insights into the life of this remarkable woman, who made it in a man's world against the odds.
